Here is our current wish list if you would like to make a donation for 2010. We will be posting the status of these wishes on a regular basis.  (The dollar amount is the cost if we buy the item.)

Heavy duty, 3-ring binders with spine inserts – 1 1/2 inch           quantity needed = 42

To move the picture index copies from the many, heavy 3- and 4-inch binders, some of which we’ve taped back together to make them last.  This picture index gets heavy usage and is a primary tool in researching our photo files.  New binders will replace the old, and the smaller size will better serve our researchers and staff.            = $300.00

8 1/2 x 11 paper (letter size) white                 quantity needed = 10+ reams / month $35+

8 1/2 x 14 paper (legal size) white                  quantity needed = 2 reams / month          $ 12

11 x 17 paper (folio size) white                      quantity needed = 1 ream / month          $ 12

This is a recurring and constant need.    
Needed to make photo copies of materials for clients, for printing materials by computer
Folio size used to photocopy maps and large articles, pictures, materials for archive filing and for clients.

Printer Toner & Ink Cartridges

     for HP Lazerjet 1300                        Q2613A –               2500 pages for $79.99

This is our ‘workhorse’ printer – black & white – that prints Word & Excel documents and other everyday working materials including shipping labels, catalog listings & reports, etc.

GENERAL OFFICE SUPPLIES 

If you have boxes of good office supplies that you don’t need, consider donating to GCHS.  Things such as:

Plastic paper clips, post-its, bull clips (small and medium), file folders, mailing tape, usable pencils, scissors, card weight paper, staples, stapler, paper towels, etc.  

Cash donations help us buy:

* Archival paper mending tape for archival projects - $25 per roll
* Double stick tape for archival projects - $25 per roll
* Archival supplies (acid-free boxes and files) - $100
* General office supplies for a year -- $1000+

Replacement for our only microfilm reader/printer, which is old and unreliable.  A used analog machine will cost $5,600.  A new Digital machine (which would scan newspaper images into computers) will cost $11,000.

Any amount given to the general fund can help purchase the items above or help meet other needs, such as:

Space for storage on-site!  For estimated $25,000 we can put a storage module on property behind our full-to-the-brim building.  The module would provide museum-quality storage and protection for materials not regularly in use. 

Computer to use as a workstation - with speed for internet, memory for graphics, XP or Vista operating system, Microsoft 2007 Office.  Estimated cost with all software   $850. 

All computers we own are regularly in productive use every hour we are open. We have begun the project of cataloging all items we hold.  We need this computer to better use the hours of our computer-savvy volunteers - and of other volunteers who are interested in learning.
